Two OLA Projects Receive Awards in 2009 Building Brooklyn Awards Program

Two projects that OLA was the MEP design engineer for were honored at the 2009 Building Brooklyn Awards held by the Real Estate and Development Committee of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.

The Triangle Junction Mall was awarded in the economic development category.  The project consisted of the construction of a new 260,000 sq. ft. retail center on three levels with a 500 car parking deckThe site sits at the junction of three distinct residential communities, the terminal point of two subway lines, the crossroads of six public bus lines and at the deflection point of the city grid. A public/private partnership of the city of New York, the borough of Brooklyn and Triangle Equities, the Junction spans the Long Island Railroad and New York City Transit subway lines. 

The NYPD Tow Pound Operations Building won in the office building category.  This new  11,000 sq. ft. building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development is pursuing a LEED Silver Rating to meet the new Local Law 86 in New York City.  The building houses all Tow Pound operations including the redemption center, which is the customer interactive area for car retrieval, as well as offices, locker rooms, and support spaces..
