Energy

OLA’s experienced energy engineers can help you explore more efficient alternatives and their short-term and long-term cost impacts. For over 20 years, OLA has provided studies through the NYSERDA FlexTech Program helping owners throughout NYS to obtain a cost share to investigate high performance alternatives and decarbonization master planning. Our team is experienced in LL84, LL87, LL88, and LL97 compliance. With the New Energy Code for NYS and NYC (as of January 1, 2026), OLA can help navigate the energy code requirements for owners and design teams.

Areas of practice include energy audits, strategic energy planning, energy management, DOE2 energy modeling, life cycle cost analysis, monitoring and verification, design of energy solutions, incentive program applications, LEED energy consulting, and analysis.

New Haven Public Schools

OLA helped author the New Haven Public Schools High Performance Schools Design Requirements to improve building performance through architectural and engineering strategies/guidelines. As part of these requirements, DOE2 energy analysis software is utilized to determine energy use savings and energy cost savings. OLA performs this modeling for all schools.

Stone Barns

OLA’s master plan included an overall assessment of possible energy-related measures and was provided in both tabular and timeline form. Short-term and long-term options include consideration of Variable Airflow Kitchen System, Chiller Upgrade, Interior Lighting Upgrades, Exterior Lighting Control, Envelope Upgrades, Domestic Hot Water System Usage Reductions, Heating System Retro-commissioning, Biomass Boiler projects, and Photovoltaic Solar Array projects.

200 Fifth Avenue

OLA collaborated with the entire design team for the core and shell upgrades to this 650,000 square foot building. Upgrades included new curtain wall façade, HVAC systems, and lighting and power distribution systems. HVAC systems consist of hot water perimeter radiation fed by Con Ed steam, 3200 ton cooling towers serving multiple VAV air handlers on each floor, and demand controlled ventilation at each air handler. Complete renovation of this historic landmark, former International Toy Center, received LEED-CS Gold.
